Rob Davenport is the Wellness Program Manager for NASA’s Johnson Space Center (JSC) and works with an integrated team of health & fitness professionals to provide a comprehensive wellness program for 17,000 employees at the JSC. Prior to joining NASA he worked for Pacific Coast Companies (
Before joining Pacific Coast Companies Rob worked for a variety of companies including WorkCare, the US Navy and Applied Materials implementing comprehensive health and fitness programs. While working for the Navy he served as Fitness Director for the aircraft carrier USS Kitty Hawk based in Japan and the USS Emory S. Land based in Italy. During his tenure with the Navy Rob designed and supervised the construction and reconstruction of several gyms, including one that was rated by high ranking Navy officials as being one of the Navy’s best.
Rob graduated from Ohio University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Sports Science and attended graduate school at the University of Toledo. His master’s thesis investigated the effects of sports drinks on plasma volume during exercise in the heat.
Rob’s approach to wellness is simple - small steps lead to profound changes. A 1000 mile journey begins with one step, you just have to take it! A healthy lifestyle should have one’s physical, mental, socio-emotional, and spiritual dimensions in balance for optimal health. He subscribes to the wisdom of Nkosi Johnson, a 12 year old boy from Africa who died from Aids: “Do all you can, with what you have, in the time you have, in the place you are.”
