Luiz Fernando Moraes, 48, is the Secretary of Tourism of Porto Alegre (2,4 million inhabitants) since November 2007. The city is the capital of Rio Grande do Sul State in south Brazil. Mr. Moraes is also the vice-president for the Tourism Secretaries and Directors National Directors Association. Journalist, Moraes began his career as communications advisor for the Legislation national and regional chambers of Brazil. Was editor-in-chief and press manager of the State Government (1995-1998) and communications superintendent of Legislation Chamber of Rio Grande do Sul (1999). In the private sector, since 2000, was partner director and general manager for several advertising agencies and companies. Mr. Moraes was also teacher and speaker for the advanced communication universities in south Brazil, acted as media relationship manager and political marketing. Coordinated several political campaigns and returned to the public sector in the beginning of 2007, as president for the Piratini Cultural Foundation, owner of the Public TV and FM Radio station, both state owned media operations.
